TeMP 2015 Contest Got Its winners

"Temp 2015" final of tournament of young professionals  - the large-scale industry project of the "Rosatom" State Corporation and the Rosatom Corporate Academy was conducted on the basis of Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (VNIIAES) in April, 2015. The jury, headed by Sergey Kiriyenko, Director General of "Rosatom" State Corporation determined the best design work and overall winner of the tournament. At the end of the tournament the best finalists received a right to a job in the industry.

Students and graduates of technical and natural science professions demanded in the nuclear industry can take part in the tournament. Regular participants of the tournament are the students of "MePHI" National Research Nuclear University and its branches, Tomsk Polytechnic University, B.N. Yeltsin Ural Federal University, Ivanovo State Power University, R.E. Alexeev Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University, the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and other relevant Rosatom universities.

The record

A record number - 3838 students and graduates from more than 200 universities, 40% more than in 2014, filed applications for participation in the tournament this year. Applications were submitted from 13 countries: Russia, Germany, China, Netherlands, the USA, France, Ukraine, Byelorussia, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Vietnam, Turkey and Venezuela.

Live Stage

The tournament is held on the Collective Intelligence Systems online platform, which operates on the principle of crowdsourcing. After the registration the organizers and the participants analyzed the questionnaires to assess the ability of candidates using online testing. More than 1,300 people with high academic performance (GPA 4.3 or more) and education profile for the industry were invited to participate in the online phase. During the online phase, participants joined in teams, selected production targets proposed by industry divisions, offered their solutions and developed projects. All the work has been organized in close cooperation with industry experts - employees of the enterprises of the "Rosatom" State Corporation. In addition, during the tournament, the participants underwent a series of special trainings in the Rosatom Corporate Academy.

"I would like to especially note the work of experts of the industry, who have become real mentors for the players of the tournament. They not only shared their knowledge and talked about the production process, but managed to really inspire the children", - Tatiana Terentyeva, HR Director of "Rosatom" State Corporation, said.

Defence of the projects

There have been 86 finalists among participants. Teams of the finalist projects of the next companies: JSC "CDBMB" Novovoronezh NPP, JSC Academician A.A. Bochvar "VNIINM", "Atomflot", JSC "IRM", JSC "NIAEP" – competed for the best project of the tournament. There also were the teams of international flows from Vietnam and Hungary participating in non-competitive format in the final.

An innovation of this year was the format of the final tournament - world-café. Each team presented its project to the 6 juries - top managers of Rosatom. After the rounds of a brief presentation of the project and answers the questions of the jury and contestants three best teams were selected, captains of which publicly defended their projects.

The "Compensation of temperature deformations of the mine of main circulation pump unit of the reactor plant with a heavy liquid metal coolant" project presented by a team of JSC "CDBMB" was recognized as the best project.

The winning team received a certificate for presentation of their project in the framework of the European Youth Nuclear Congress in Paris. Team, which took 2nd and 3rd place were awarded by certificates for training in "Rosatom" productive system at "processes factory".

After defending the projects finalists took part in the "Pipeline" business simulation where participants built the bridges and piping made of paper and adhesive tape, in constant interaction with the customer - Sergey Kiriyenko, the general director of the "Rosatom" State Corporation. As a result of business simulation the absolute winner of the tournament, who will take an English course on Nuclear English program in the Rosatom Corporate Academy, was selected. It was Alexey Voronko, who participated on behalf of the Engineering Division of Rosatom - JSC "Atomenergomash". The winner is also awarded by certificates for training in World Nuclear University in 2016.

Awards of the tournament

The project has a number of awards. In 2012, the "Temp" won the "Crystal Pyramid" award in the field of human resources management - and I prize in the "Federation" nomination in the framework of the prestigious "HR-Brand of the Year" award. In 2013 the project won first place in the "Corporate project aimed at young people" category of the Eventiada All-Russian competition of projects for young audiences. In 2014 the "Temp" was awarded by the diploma of II degree in "The best practices of Russian companies and organizations of fuel and energy in the development and implementation of educational programs" nomination of  the ENES All-Russian competition of youth development and educational initiatives in the field of energy; the Ministry of Education Diploma for winning the "Creating the Future" I All-Russian competition of best practices of employers on work with children, youth and talent pool in the "Pad" nomination; the first place in the "Corporate project aimed at young people" category of the Eventiada All-Russian competition of projects for young audiences. In 2015 the project received the status of a single channel of selection of graduates with high potential for employment in the industry.

For five years, the tournament proved to be effective for the Russian nuclear industry. Last year, one of the already implemented winner projects of the Tempe 2013 - the industrial park at the production site of OJSC "VPO "Tochmash ", at which area 35 residents placed, brought revenue of 128 million rubles to the TVEL division.
