All Russian Engineering Contest (VIC) Conference Took Place in Moscow

A final scientific conference of "Training of engineers in Russia: state and strategic perspectives – a view of youth" All-Russian competition of engineering (VIC) took place on October, 20th-22th, 2015.

More than 100 young engineers – the finalists of competition of individual research projects of the All-Russian competition of engineering, gathered in Moscow, in Lomonosov Moscow State University for the three-day conference to discuss the strategic issues of youth participation in the development of Russian high-tech technologies and industry within the final scientific-practical conference of "Training of engineers in Russia: state and strategic perspectives – a view of youth" All-Russian competition of engineering (VIC).

An intramural round of examination of projects was held in the frameworks of the conference to determine the winners of the VIC competition of individual research projects. Young people presented engineering projects of 20 areas of training at the VIC competition of individual research projects.

Total Entry list consisted of more than 1000 participants studying in more than 170 higher educational institutions of the Russian Federation in 9 federal districts. More than 60 experts from public corporations, largest industrial enterprises, scientific communities and educational organizations (KLA, USC, "Russian Helicopters", Rosatom, RusHydro, Lukoil, Gazprom, VNIIGAZ, Roselectronika and others) were involved in evaluation of the works of the extramural round.

A rating sheet was formed in each field of training as the result of work of the expert committee in extramural round of VIC competition of individual research projects. 127 projects from 67 universities of Russia, the authors of which have become the participants of the conference in Moscow, were selected for intramural round of the competition. The list of participants is available on the official website of VIC.

The opening of the conference took place on October, 20th, where – Andrey Fedyanin, Vice-Rector, the head of Department of science policy and organization of scientific research of Lomonosov Moscow State University, welcomed the participants. Arseny Brykin, Deputy General Director for Strategic development and implementation of state programs of JSC "Russian electronics", leader of the "Work in Russia" project of the Union of Machine Builders of Russia, made a report at the plenary session.

Presentations were made by Konstantin Kiselev, a member of the Board for Education and Science under the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Aslambek Gakaev, the head of the Corporate training direction of the Department for training of personnel of JSC "United Aircraft Corporation", Sergei Mardanov, RVC manager for development of transfer of technologies.

Two round tables were held during the conference. Topics of the first (combined) roundtable: "Young scientists and engineers in the implementation of mega-projects of development of Russia" and "Strategy of the Russian science and perspective directions of cooperation of science and industry: engineering approach". It was held with the participation of Timur Azhimov, Deputy Minister of Transport and Roads of the Republic of Tatarstan, Alexei Andreyev, candidate of Biological Sciences, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of global processes of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Tatiana Red’ko, director of the department for cooperation with the authorities of OJSC "Speed ??lines". Dmitry Ivanov, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovations of VPO "Volga State University of Technology", Boris Korobets , candidate of law science, the Head of Department, Director of the Center for the Protection of Intellectual Property of Bauman MSTU, were among the participants of the second round table on the "Training of engineers: a strategic view of youth" theme.

Representatives of the Engineering Youth discussed the strategic prospects of high-tech sectors of the Russian economy, including in terms of staffing, during the conference. The participants of the conference drew attention to the problem of school career counseling, training of leading, engineering and managerial personnel among the young, promising engineering teams. The participants of the conference put forward the idea of ??holding the "School of chief designers" under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the leading Russian universities and interested industrial companies, which graduates will make a talent pool of future leaders of the Russian industry.

The participants of the conference also drew attention to the humanitarian aspect of the educational process in the training of engineers and expressed support for the initiative for the development of an innovative program of patriotic training of engineers of the Coordination Council on Youth Affairs in the scientific and educational spheres under the President of the Russian Federation for Science and Education.

The participants of the conference noted an important role of students' scientific societies and design offices in the training of future engineers and supported the idea of ??forming a single public coordinating body for the implementation of effective communication CHO Russian universities with the authorities and the companies concerned; supported the idea of ??the national CHO competition, as well as the holding of All-Russian contest of young teachers – mentors of engineering youth under the auspices of the Coordinating Council and with the participation of CHO.

The participants approved the practice and procedure of its annual holding, made suggestions to improve awareness of the project and the order of examination.

Experts selected 20 winners (one winner in each direction) at the end of intramural tour held at the conference. The list of winners is posted on the official website of VIC. A ceremony of awarding the winners of competition of individual research projects of the All-Russian engineering competition was held on October, 22th, the final day of the conference. Diplomas were presented to the winners by the representatives of the Presidential Administration of Russia, Ministry of Education and Science of Russia and invited experts.

All-Russian engineering competition is a system of annual professional competitions to identify the best students, undergraduates and graduate students studying at universities in engineering fields of study, in terms of the acquisition of professional competencies in engineering fields. VIC is held annually pursuant to the Order of the President of Russia № Pr-349 of February 13th, 2014.
